Rady Shell Ticketing and Box Office FAQs

In this new, permanent outdoor facility, you can look forward to an enhanced concert experience in every way. Current donors and subscribers are given priority when being seated at the new venue. Your longevity, generosity and loyalty to the San Diego Symphony will assure you great seats in The Shell. Due to a completely new layout and venue, our ticket office will work with past subscribers to ensure comparable seating options.
If you have ordered a subscription early in the season campaign, you'll not see any tickets at all until you've been seated in our system. (This could be a few weeks after you've ordered, depending on seating priority.) Once seating has been completed, you'll receive your tickets almost immediately (as QR codes within The Rady Shell app) if you used the default "mobile tickets" delivery; if you requested printed subscription tickets, then you'll receive them no later than two weeks before the season starts; if you request printed single tickets, they will appear in The Rady Shell app very soon after you place your order. Note: different from past years, you can either have a printed ticket or a mobile ticket, but you cannot have both ; a change in delivery method for any order will invalidate tickets in that order issued in a previous delivery method.
Subscribers pay a subscriber handling fee of $30 per order. Single ticket buyers will pay either a $5, $10 or $15 Handling Fee per ticket (depending on the base price of the ticket) AND a $3 per ticket Facility Fee. We are no longer charging a per-transaction handling fee.
Generally, we make Rady Shell summer packages available in February or March, and then put single tickets on sale in April.
There is seating in the Mission Fed Community Green available for almost all Symphony-produced concerts with excellent visibility at the crest of our terraced seating area. These seats are limited to 300 per concert and tend to go quickly. (Note: Rental concerts and events may not necessarily have a Mission Fed Community Green section. Check the listing for details.) In general, lawn chairs will be allowed in this section; however there will be exceptions for certain concerts in larger seating configurations. Please check the Calendar Event page to prepare for your experience. There will not be folding chairs available to rent at the venue, but blankets will be available for purchase if you don’t bring your own.
Seating options are expanded at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park to include two-top “couples” seating ("Parkside") plus a six-top terrace of tables perfect for groups and corporate entertaining ("San Diego Row" - call for details). Familiar four-top ("Marina") and single seat seating ("Bridgeview") from previous seasons will also be available. The quality of chair seating in all sections is enhanced.
The Symphony partners with key local entities to make these seats available to San Diego's underserved communities.

Yes. The Ticket Office can be e-mailed at tickets@sandiegosymphony.org, but e-mails are generally only answered during regular Ticket Office hours. For urgent matters, this is probably the preferred method of contact; all e-mails will eventually be answered, and everyone on the ticketing staff has access to these e-mails.

When open, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park Box Office is a fully functioning ticket office for the San Diego Symphony and ALL of its offerings.
San Diego Symphony offers an attractive array of subscription options for summer concerts at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, usually announced at beginning in February or March. Traditional season subscribers receive the best available seats and free ticket exchanges for Subscription Concerts (up to 48 hours in advance for another performance within your same series). Note: Traditional subscribers can also exchange to other Subscription Concerts for free, but not to Special Concerts. “Choose Your Own” subscribers have no continuing seat rights and must pay $5 per ticket for all exchanges. Other subscriber-only benefits apply. For more information, call the Jacobs Music Center Ticket Office at 619.235.0804 or order directly from our website - look for a "Packages" link on the homepage.
Lawn seating in the Mission Fed Community Green is strictly on a first-come, first served basis, and our gates always open at 5:30pm on concert nights in summer. This applies to subscribers and single ticket buyers of lawn seats alike - though subscribers are assured of seating if they have reserved in advance of single ticket sales. The gates of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park concert site open at 5:30pm on concert days in summer, or 90 minutes before showtime in other parts of the year. Bring your own blanket or folding chair for the seating on the Green!
Family Packs will not be offered at The Rady Shell, but through “Choose Your Own” concert packages, families can curate their own family-friendly concert packages.
Only for Jacobs Masterworks concerts, there is a general senior (age 60+) $5 discount for most seats at The Rady Shell only. Also, anyone with an active U.S. Military ID can receive the same discount for those concerts. Senior and military discounts apply in the Parkside and Bridgeview sections. Senior discounts and military discounts do not apply in the Marina, San Diego Row or Mission Fed Community Green sections, nor do they apply to non-Jacobs Masterworks concerts.
San Diego Symphony does not offer student standby tickets for concerts at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, but for Jacobs Masterworks concerts programmed there, we do offer a standard $5 student discount for most seats. Student discounts apply in the Parkside and Bridgeview sections only. Student discounts do not apply in the Marina, San Diego Row or Mission Fed Community Green sections, nor do they apply for non-Jacobs Masterworks concerts at The Rady Shell. Eligibility for this discount is at the discretion of the Ticket Office. Discount may be available online using promo code EDUCATION.
Non-CYO series subscribers (or subscribers to any Rady Shell 2022 seated series) may exchange tickets for free (anytime up to 48 hours before the performance) into any other subscription concert, based on ticket availability. Non-subscribers and “Choose Your Own” subscribers can do the same, with a $5 exchange fee per ticket. Exchanges for certain special sale promotions (such as $25 Seat Sales) are not allowed at all. Tickets must be returned to the Ticket Office either in person, by mail or by fax (619.231.3848) no later than 48 hours in advance of your performance. Note: On- account credits generated by open-ended exchanges must be used within the current subscription season they were generated.
The Rady Shell Box Office will have Will Call tickets printed and available for pickup beginning at 5pm of any summer concert day.
Printed San Diego Symphony concert tickets can be reprinted for $1 each at the box office with proper ID. Note: by using the default "mobile tickets" delivery option during your purchase, ticket QR codes for entry will appear almost immediately in The Rady Shell app, where they can stay until your concert...no reprint needed!
Discount tickets for groups are available for both subscription and non-subscription concerts for as few as 10 individuals in some cases. NOTE: certain popular Rady Shell concerts can have several group reservation requests, so our best advice is to reserve early. (Reservations can be taken beginning on the day of The Shell’s season schedule announcement.) For further information, please call 619.235.0804.
  • Children ages two and older require a ticket. All others must sit in an adult’s lap, and can do so for free.
  • The San Diego Symphony requests that parents use discretion regarding the age-appropriateness of children attending a full-length concert at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park.
  • Should a child become disruptive during a concert, we ask that the parent discreetly escort the child away from the audience area. We greatly appreciate your consideration in this regard.
If you cannot use a printed ticket for an upcoming concert, we would very much appreciate it if you could donate that ticket back to the Ticket Office or The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park Box Office (preferably several days in advance!) for a potential resale. You can also mail such a ticket to 1245 7th Ave., San Diego, CA 92101 (Attn: Ticket Office). Tickets can be turned in anytime up to 24 hours in advance of your concert. A receipt will be mailed acknowledging your tax-deductible contribution. (We would be unable to accept any tickets for tax deduction purposes after the concert has begun or passed.) If your ticket is a mobile ticket, you have the ability within The Rady Shell app to forward your tickets to friends or family who can use them; otherwise, contact the ticket office and they'll put your donated ticket back into our selling system, and note the donation in your account.
Tickets for missed San Diego Symphony concerts in any venue are non-refundable for subscribers and single ticket buyers alike.
  • All performances at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park will go on, rain or shine. No refunds or exchanges. Subscribers may exchange into other performances if exchanges are made no later than 24 hours prior to the event start time.
